I am Professor at the Department of Animal Health and Anatomy (UAB). Degree in ex situ Wildlife Management and a Master in Public Management and Sustainable Development. From 2000, my research is focused in the Amazon region; and my research areas include the morphophisiology, biology, ecology, zoonoses and public health, anthropic impact (oil and mining pollution, logging, hunting), conservation and sustainable use of natural resources directed to conservation strategies for ecosystems by improving the quality of live for the local people. I have been involved in the coordination and development of a number of research projects and have experience in the organization of courses and training programs, workshops, academic courses and extension services for rural communities. My current vision is to establish Amazon networks for the exchange of multidisciplinary scientific and “non-scientific” (traditional) knowledge. I am a member of the IUCN Species Survival Commission for Pigs, Peccaries and Hippos Specialist Group, and the Sustainable Use and Livelihoods Specialist Group, and president of Community of Wildlife Management in the Amazon and Latinamerica (ComFauna)
