Cristina O'Callaghan Gordo

Principal investigator

Cristina O'Callaghan Gordo is an Associate Professor at the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC) and an Associate Researcher at the Barcelona Institute for Global Health (ISGlobal). She holds a degree in Biology from the University of Barcelona (UB), a Master's in Epidemiology from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM), and a PhD in Medicine from UB. Since February 2020, she has been an Associate Professor in the Health Sciences Department at UOC, where she co-created and co-directs the Interuniversity Master’s in Planetary Health and leads the BITAL research group (Barcelona InTerdisciplinary research group on plAnetary heaLth). This group focuses on studying the impacts on human health resulting from anthropogenic alterations to Earth’s natural systems, with the aim of proposing solutions to improve human health globally within the planet’s boundaries.
